G Mark – Gulf Conformity Mark

What is the G Mark?

The Gulf Conformity Mark (G-Mark) is a conformity mark for product categories subjected to the Gulf Coordinating Council (GCC) technical regulations. The priority for applying G Mark is for children’s toys and low-voltage devices exported for sale in the markets of the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) states, as defined within the Low Voltage technical regulation, BD142004-01.
Affixing the G Mark on a product is proof that it conforms to the Gulf standards and the relevant technical regulation and meets the quality and safety requirements.
The countries included in the scheme are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

G Mark Procedures for Each List of Products

Procedures of List 1 regulated products

  • A Self-declaration conformity assessment is required.
  • Manufacturers must have a system in place—typically a factory quality control system—to ensure products are being manufactured and assembled in a controlled manner.
  • Manufacturers should obtain test reports for the production line to confirm the product’s safety and quality.

Procedures of List 2 regulated products

  • The manufacturers should select a Notified Body (NB) to confirm that the technical design of the product meets the Gulf technical regulations requirements. Then issue the evaluation report with a Gulf Type Examination certificate.
  • The Notified Body ensures that the manufacturer has a quality system that ensures the product is manufactured in accordance with the technical standards.

G-Mark Certification Process

  • Submit technical documents, including instruction manuals, safety, electromagnetic compatibility tests, etc.
  • The technical file gets reviewed to decide on granting G Mark.
  • Once the G Mark is obtained, the mark logo can be labelled on the products.
