The Water Efficiency label

What is the water Efficiency card Service?

The water efficiency card is a green card that displays important data, such as the Gulf Conformity Mark (a symbol used to track conformity), indicating the Water consumption rate in water consumption rationalisation tools. This card is placed on products that are intended for import, manufacture, or use within the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Features of Water Efficiency Card

The water efficiency card assists consumers in selecting products with higher efficiency that can help rationalise water consumption. This card contributes to reducing water loss by promoting water-saving sanitary tools.
Its main objective is to conserve water and decrease consumption, which leads to the efficient utilisation of water resources.

Water – Consumption Conservation Products

The Gulf Technical Regulations for Water – Consumption Conservation Products apply to all water-saving products, as specified in this regulation, that are available in the markets of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The main objective of this regulation is to promote efficient water usage in the products included in it, based on the water consumption rates specified in the regulation. This will help in preserving the resources and economy of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as well as reduce costs for the consumers.

The conditions of obtaining The Green Card

The market survey authority in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries may take measures to evaluate products that present significant risks or consume a large number of water resources covered by the Gulf technical regulation for water consumption Conservation tools. The evaluation must cover all the requirements contained in this regulation. The economic operators concerned must cooperate with the market survey authority during the evaluation process

If the market survey authority in any of the member states believes that non-compliance with water consumption rationalisation tools goes beyond one state, it shall notify the authority and the rest of the member states of the result of the assessment and the corrective measures that the relevant economic actor was requested to take.

If the market survey authority finds that the tools for rationalising water consumption do not comply with the requirements contained in this regulation during the evaluation process, it shall request the relevant economic actor to take the necessary corrective measures determined by that authority. If the tools cannot be made compliant, they may be withdrawn from the market or recalled within a period determined by the relevant authorities.

The relevant economic actor must ensure that the necessary corrective measures have been taken regarding the water conservation tools that he has offered on the market.

What is the Green Card?

The Card should be installed on the product or its container

It should be made of a long-lasting material that remains on the product or its container until it reaches consumers

All information on the Card must be scientifically proven and verified by a lab

The Card should be placed in a clear, visible place on each product during the packaging process

The Card design must be the same as shown in Appendix (6) of the Gulf technical regulations for water rationalisation tools

The products' water consumption should be rated according to the regulations on a scale of 4 stars or 5 stars. The higher the number of stars, the more economical the product is, as it consumes less water
